Belated Christmas pictures

Hi there!

I guess it is a little bit late to post Christmas pictures... But Hey, Christmas is great, isn't it? So, why does not it last forever?

As you can see, our Christmas tree was dressed in gold, silver and white. Elegant and timeless colors that I usually love in Christmas.

For the tree, I like just simple warm white lights to add some sparkle, and let the ornaments set the colors of the whole tree.

The decorations we chose were: warm white lights; golden Christmas balls, in different shapes, finishes and models; different golden ornaments, such as presents, a drum and golden sacks; Christmas balls made of pearls; crystal balls with golden leaves on them; crystals; pearls garlands; and a golden ribbon.

As I have more pictures from Christmas, I have decided to make separate posts to share them, in order not to bore you with tons of images. I hope you enjoy them!

These are some digital postcards made by me with pictures I took at home to wish my friends and contacts a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2012. So, I am taking the chance to wish you all, too, a Happy "rest" of the Holidays and a Happy New Year 2012! Carolina Herrera

As I was reviewing some of my magazines to decide the ones I am keeping and the ones I will not, I found a Spanish Vanity Fair issue that features an interview with Fashion Designer Carolina Herrera in her New York Townhouse. The reportage does not include many pictures, but the ones it has are, indeed, really beautiful. So, I thought about sharing some of them and some of her words with you.

As one of my favorite Fashion Designers, Carolina Herrera is for me a synonimous of Chic, elegance and timelessness. I am not talking just about her designs, for both men and women, but I am talking also about the designer and her personality itself. Discretion is also another attribute why Carolina Herrera is known for. Discrete for fashion, as well as discrete for her real life. In fact, she says "I cannot comment on anything about people who come to my house".

During the photoshoot and the interview, she comments about the style of Michelle Obama as an icon of fashion: "It is crazy the comparison between Michelle Obama and Jackie Kennedy just because the current First Lady was wearing a simple black dress and pearls in a picture". Talking about fashion, other comment that the prestigious designer makes is: "The only thing that a man cannot be forgiven for is wearing a shirt open showing his chest. It does not matter that a man's chest is the last thing that looks older: everyone should know how to age with dignity. What's a young-looking chest under a wrinkled neck?"

Happiness

This post at The Zhush reminded me about something I had to share:

The happiness I felt when I received my first issue ever of American Elle Decor Magazine, which I subscribed several months ago. Yay!

But, that same day I also received a fabulous book I had purchased at Amazon.com: Empire Splendor. Double yay! Double Happiness!

Well, about the first one... I must say I did not like the issue very much; it is not a surprise at all, since I don't usually like summer issues of interior design magazines. Anyway, Elle Decor is a great magazine and I am sure the October issue (Which is already out, I think) is definitely going to be better.

Talking about the book... It is amazing: I love the covers (even the interior ones are really beautiful), the pictures, the text... Everything is gorgeous. It shows the decor of French Palaces, manors, gardens, etc. during the era of the French Empire. A great journey through furniture, rooms, textiles and lighting in the Age of Napoleon. If you like Neoclassical interiors, I totally recommend it.

And something else... Hopefully, Spanish Interior Design magazines will be released by the end of this week... Cannot wait for them! El Mueble, Nuevo Estilo, AD... Which surprises will they bring this month?

Organizing my closet

A couple of days ago, and after reading an article in this month issue of El Mueble Magazine, I decided it was time to reorganize my closet. So, following their tips on how to do it, I got a good looking and better organized closet which I thought I would share with you.

First of all, I started emptying my closet (!!!). You never realise about all the stuff you have until everything is over the bed!

Next step: classifying clothes.

After taking a look at all I have, I started planning basing on my storage needs.

The top shelves were used to put Ikea's Kassett boxes with other seasons clothing and home clothes (gloves, caps, scarves, blankets...). As you can see in the picture, the closet has got three parts.

The part on the left stores my outerwear, accesories and several drawers for little stuff.

These are the flat boxes where I keep my accesories: on the first one, glasses, shades, goggles and swimsuits; on the second one, some belts, bracelets and new contact lenses.

The drawers: top one for underwear (organized by color); second one for socks (also, organized by color); the third one is for towels; and the bottom one has my pyjamas and sleepwear.

The part on the center of the closet stores mainly folded clothes: polos, sweatshirts, sweaters and tees. It has also some bedding and some shoes.

All of them were organized following also a color scale: from lighter to darker colors.

And finally, the part on the right is for shirts, pants and shoes. They have been organized by color, too.
