Christmas Presents I

Hi all!

Long time no see, right? Strange on me… As usual, I have been quite busy these past weeks and I was not able to write a new post before. Anyway, it was clear for me that my next post would be this one.

Well, I know this is totally delayed on time, because I am going to show some of the gifts we got at home last Christmas when I could be already writing my next Christmas Wishlist (Or my Birthday one, or whatever). But here it is. I am showing some home-related presents and decorations and also my own presents, some of the ones I received (almost all of them design-related, of course). I hope you like them!

Something new I am also introducing is my native language, Spanish; so, from now on, my entries will be written in both English and Spanish. I had really thought about this before, but honestly, I didn’t think anyone in Spain would be interested in my blog. However, some people who told me about that made me change my mind, being one of them Arturo, also a blogger here and here, who posted a comment in my previous entry. Thanks for being interested!

 

¡Hola!

Cuánto tiempo sin verme, ¿no? Qué raro en mí… Para variar, he estado bastante ocupado las pasadas semanas y no pude escribir un nuevo post antes. De todos modos, tenía claro que mi siguiente post sería éste.

Sí, sé que viene totalmente fuera de tiempo, ya que voy a enseñar algunos de los regalos que tuvimos en casa la pasada Navidad, cuando podría perfectamente estar escribiendo mi lista de regalos de la próxima Navidad (O la de mi cumpleaños, o cualquier otra). Pero aquí está. Muestro algunos regalos y decoraciones para la casa, así como mis regalos, algunos de los que recibí (Casi todos tienen que ver con algún tipo de diseño, claro). ¡Espero que os gusten!

Algo nuevo que también introduzco en el blog es mi idioma nativo, el Español; así que, de ahora en adelante, mis post estarán escritas en Inglés y en Español. La verdad es que había pensado en ello antes, pero, sinceramente, no creía que nadie de España pudiera estar interesado o interesada en mi blog. Sin embargo, algunas personas que me lo comentaron me hicieron cambiar de opinión, siendo una de ellas Arturo, también blogger aquí y aquí que publicó un comentario en mi anterior entrada. ¡Gracias por estar interesados!

 

The first picture, as well as the next ones, are the Louis XVI style dining table and chairs that we had ordered a couple of months before Christmas. The table is lacquered in white and the chairs are aged solid oak and upholstered in a taupe velvet. Both of them are a traditional and timeless style, but the finishes we chose for them get their seriousness out and make them look contemporary and updated (Just ignore the ugly centerpiece candle, it was a gift and it was supposed to stay there. Just ignore it). I should also mention the art in the background, which was made by me thirteen years ago (can you believe it? Time goes by so fast…), when I was just 10. I’m planning to change the outdated frame, though.

La primera foto, así como las dos siguientes, son de la mesa y las sillas de comedor que habíamos encargado un par de meses antes de Navidad. La mesa está lacada en blanco y las sillas son de roble macizo en color natural envejecido y tapizadas en terciopelo color topo. Tanto la mesa como las sillas son de estilo clásico y atemporal, pero ambos acabados claros les quitan la seriedad y las hacen más actuales (Ignorad la vela que está en el centro de la mesa, fue un regalo y se supone que tenía que estar ahí. Simplemente haced como que no existe). También debería mencionar el cuadro que está detrás, pintado por mí hace trece años (¿Podéis creerlo? El tiempo pasa tan rápido…), cuando tenía 10. Por cierto, tengo pensado cambiar o modificar el marco, que ya se quedó un poco anticuado.

Another of the presents for the home was this fabulous mirror, that we hung in the hallway, near the entrance hall. It is a traditional style in an aged solid oak, too.

Otro de los regalos para la casa fue este fabuloso espejo, que colgamos en el primer tramo de pasillo, cerca de la entrada. También es de estilo clásico y acabado en roble macizo envejecido.

And, the third present “for the home” is this Louis XVI bench. We haven’t thought about a specific place for it, but I am planning to change the upholstering and the wood finish. Not clear about colors yet, but I guess they will be neutrals with some gold or silver accents.

Y, el tercero de los regalos para la casa es este banco de estilo Luis XVI. Aún no hemos pensado en un sitio concreto para él, pero planeo cambiar el tapizado y el acabado de la madera. Todavía no tengo claros los colores, pero supongo que serán claros/neutros con algún detalle en dorado o plateado.
